Carving pumpkins has become far more than a harvest ritual for Steve Clarke, "Lord of Pumpkins". It's a creative outlet, a teaching opportunity, a space to compete and, most importantly, a way to bring happiness to those around him.
Steve grew up in a large family in which all of the kids worked in the garden; the harvest was always in his blood, but his older siblings were always reserved the job of carving the pumpkins every October. When he got older, his green thumb eventually landed him first prize in a vegetable competition and the prize, a gift certificate, led him to an unexpected passion when he used it to purchase a pumpkin carving kit.
That kit started him down a road which has garnered him three Guinness world records, multiple trips to the White House, appearances on the "Today Show", ESPN, Food Network, History Channel and several other shows as well as being the subject of magazine and newspaper articles.
Steve is a husband and father of two and a dedicated teacher of 30 years at the same school he attended growing up, where he also coaches football and track. He is immensely grateful for the support of his family in pursuing his passion as well as the support of his students and the Rosemont School of the Holy Child
